چکیده
Sedum middendorffianum Maxim (SMM) is a Korean endemic plant belonging to the Crassulaceae family. This study aimed investigate antitumor effects of SMM extract on human ovarian cancer cells. Among five plants grown in Korea, showed most potent cytotoxicity cells and had little effect normal surface epithelial Furthermore, we revealed that dose-dependently induced apoptosis A2780 SKOV3 The markedly stimulated activation caspase-3/8, while broad-spectrum caspase inhibitor caspase-8 selective significantly reversed extract-induced apoptosis. In addition, inhibited cell invasion expression levels matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)-2 MMP-9 Notably, increased generation intracellular ROS, pretreatment with antioxidant N-acetyl-L-cysteine (NAC) suppressed SMM-induced anti-invasive activity. Moreover, NAC treatment inhibition MMP-2/9 expression. Taken together, these data suggest induces caspase-dependent apoptotic death inhibits MMP-dependent via ROS regulation.

Genistein Induces Apoptosis and Inhibits Proliferation of HT29 Colon Cancer Cells
Soybean isoflavone genistein has multiple anticancer properties and its pro-apoptotic and anti-proliferative effects have been studied in different cancer cells. However, the mechanisms of action of genistein and its molecular targets on human colon cells have not been fully elucidated. Therefore, caspase-3 and p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (p38 MAPK) as the main therapeutic targets...
متن کاملA Benzylideneacetophenone Derivative Induces Apoptosis of Radiation-Resistant Human Breast Cancer Cells via Oxidative Stress
Benzylideneacetophenone derivative (1E)-1-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl) hept-1-en-3-one (JC3) elicited cytotoxic effects on MDA-MB 231 human breast cancer cells-radiation resistant cells (MDA-MB 231-RR), in a dose-dependent manner, with an IC50 value of 6 µM JC3. JC3-mediated apoptosis was confirmed by increase in sub-G1 cell population. JC3 disrupted the mitochondrial membrane potential, and red...
متن کاملAldosterone Induces Oxidative Stress Via NADPH Oxidase and Downregulates the Endothelial NO Synthesase in Human Endothelial Cells
Aldosterone is traditionally viewed as a hormone regulating electrolyte and blood pressure homeostasis. Recent studies suggest that Aldo can cause microvascular damage, oxidative stress and endothelial dysfunction. However, its exact cellular mechanisms remain obscure. This study was undertaken to examine the effect of Aldo on superoxide production in human umbilical artery endothelial cel...
متن کامل(-)-Epigallocatechin-3-gallate induces apoptosis and inhibits invasion and migration of human cervical cancer cells.
Invasion and metastasis are the major causes of cancer-related death. Pharmacological or therapeutic interventions such as chemoprevention of the progression stages of neoplastic development could result in substantial reduction in the incidence of cancer mortality. (-)-Epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG), a promising chemopreventive agent, has attracted extensive interest for cancer therapy util...
متن کاملPortulaca oleracea protects H9c2 cardiomyocytes against doxorubicin-induced toxicity via regulation of oxidative stress and apoptosis
Abstract Background and Objectives: Doxorubicin as an effective chemotherapeutic agent is frequently used in various cancers. Nowadays, the application of doxorubicin is limited due to its cardiotoxic effects. The important mechanism which is involved in the cardiac injury of doxorubicin is the generation of reactive oxygen species; therefore antioxidant compounds may reduce cardiotoxicity. ...
